Busy Busy…But Totally Out Of It

Today was a weird day. From the minute I got here I’ve been languishing at my desk. Yes, I’ve done the work given to me, but I’ve not gone the extra mile and have had moments of confusion.

I’d get up from my desk and head to the stairs only to forget where I was going. “I needed to go to the third floor,” I’d say to a co-worker who walked by, trying to explain why I was standing there with a blank look on my face. I’d return to my desk only to realize a few moments later that I had actually wanted to go to the first floor.

And it’s been like that all day. A client called to tell me that they had not received their estate planning documents from me. A quick check of the system showed that the letter saying “here are your docs” was still in draft form. And yet their original signed copies were safely tucked away in The Firm’s fireproof locked safe. Which is a step I normally do the day AFTER I mail out the estate docs to the client. But it took me a solid hour of just sitting and thinking about it before I made the decision to make new copies and send them a binder of their docs.

At least I wasn’t alone in it though – my co-worker was lamenting to her boss that she was completely out of sorts today, which made me happy to know I wasn’t the only one.
