Broken Phone

My phone broke over the weekend. It happened on the drive down to NoVA when my phone somehow got soaked in water and sat in it for about 2 hours. I wiped down the outside of the phone when I realized it was wet, but didn’t think to check the inside since the water wasn’t that deep.

But apparently it was deep enough and so my phone doesn’t work anymore. Oh, it still rings, and occasionally I can get a button to work. But for the most part my phone doesn’t work.

So what does my husband do? He sends a message to my phone. It took five minutes of opening and closing my phone for it to finally let me select the “Read” button to see his message. And now my phone is stuck with the opened message on my screen because I’m unable to hit “Done” to go back to the main screen. Fortunately, once I closed my phone the message disappeared. But the buttons still don’t work.

I have to get a new phone.

Actually, here’s what we’re thinking of doing. Denis hates his phone (the same model I have), so he’s going to get a NEW phone with the cell company we use and I’m going to transfer my number to HIS phone. Hopefully we won’t incur too many charges by doing this.

And I’m letting Denis pick his own phone instead of doing the research for him. Out of three cellphones he has hated ALL of them and claims they don’t work. This despite the fact that I’ve gotten the EXACT SAME MODEL each time and never had a day’s problem with any of them (until this recent water dowsing incident which is not the PHONE’S fault, since ANY phone that takes a soak in water is generally not going to function afterwards).

As long as I get to pick the phone and I get one that works out of all this, it’s a win-win.
