Books: Tales of Beedle the Bard

Calling all Harry Potter fans! I just read the news today that J.K. Rowling’s book of short stories written in 2007, will be published! They are due to come out in early December, but Amazon is taking pre-orders right now.

For those that might not remember, “Tales of Beedle the Bard” was a storybook referenced in the last of the Harry Potter books. Rowling decided to actually write the book, and handwrote and illustrated only seven copies of it. And now she has decided that it’s time to let the world in on the short stories – with all proceeds earned going to charity! I love that!

There will be two editions.

In the Standard edition: All five fairytales from the original handwritten Beedle book, an introduction by J.K. Rowling, reproduced illustrations from the original handwritten book, and commentary on each of the tales by Professor Albus Dumbledore.

In the Collector’s edition: all of the things listed above AND a reproduction of J.K. Rowling’s handwritten introduction, and 10 additional illustrations not found in the Standard Edition. But in addition to the introduction and illustrations, the special edition ALSO includes fun stuff like a velvet bag embroidered with J.K. Rowling’s signature, Metal skull, corners, and clasp, Replica gemstones and an Emerald ribbon (you can see the picture in the Amazon link).

This looks like it’ll be a lot of fun and a great addition to the Harry Potter collection for any fan. You know *I* will probably pre-order it!
