Book: The Peacemaker

The book I stayed up to read on Saturday night was Lori Copeland’s “The Peacemaker”. Set in the rugged post-Civil War midwest, it’s the story of a woman who has been jilted at the altar and is in pursuit of the man that left her. Her eye is on killing him out of revenge. However, upon arriving in the man’s hometown she is robbed by bandits and left with nothing to her name. Two local men just back from the war attempt to catch the robbers, and in the end offer a place in their family’s home until she can recover her belongings. Despite her misgivings she goes, and after getting to know them she finds out it’s the very family of the man that left her at the altar. Yada yada yada, older brother of jiltee is intriguing to her, yada yada yada. You know how these books go by now.

Supposedly this was a Christian novel, although the characters only made passing comments to spirituality and God. This is the first in a series that the author has planned, but I won’t be getting the other books.
