Book: State of Fear

I love Michael Crichton. It is rare that I don’t enjoy his books. I think “Airframe” was the only one that I didn’t like over the past several years. I haven’t read all of his book, but I have a feeling they are worth checking out.

In this case, I just finished reading “State of Fear” in which he takes on the environmentalist movement that has taken over the world since the 1970s. This book is controversial enough to warrant a message board on which people debate the theories brought up in the book.

I won’t go into much detail, but suffice to say this was a really interesting book, regardless of whether you think that global warming is an epidemic or not. As for the actual story, I liked the characters well enough and easily envision this becoming a movie. However, since the book is kind of anti-environmentalists, I don’t see it being made by Hollywood any time soon.

I love that book! I’m glad you enjoyed it too. And no, I don’t think it will ever be made into a movie and I really sort of don’t want it to. Timeline (the movie) stills burns my eyes.

Adds that book to the list of books he wants to borrow from Jaynee. I agree with Jen. Timeline was just aweful. He needs to save face and not sell his books to Hollywood anymore.
