THIS REVIEW IS SPOILER FREE FOR BOOK SEVEN – I ONLY GIVE MY GENERAL THOUGHTS AND REVEAL NO PLOT WHATSOEVER.
Oh boy. OH BOY! HP#7!!! I’m SO glad I read Book Six again just before picking this up. Because I would have been unable to recognize the little details in Book 7 that referenced Book 6. And I had forgotten a LOT about Book Six people. Like “who killed Dumbledore” forgot. Seriously.
So Book Seven. What can I say about book seven other than it was freakin’ awesome! I was worried about how the series would end but Book 7 was wholly satisfying in all regards. And the great thing is that I was spoiler-free. I read absolutely NOTHING about the new book before and after it was released. I avoided it at all costs. I did read a couple THEORIES on Book Seven, and neither of those came true (although one kept sounding really promising as the book went on).
I read the book at a normal pace until about page 450. At that point, I couldn’t put it down and I spent a couple hours on Friday night devouring the rest. The latter half of the book MUST be read in one go because it is so amazing and well-written. Heartbreaking and fearless and breathtaking, it’s a rollercoaster ride that I cannot WAIT to see on screen in a few years.
JK Rowling made some interesting choices, and I commend them all. Her books have always been about death in some regard – Harry’s parents, Sirius, Dumbledore, etc. And considering the fact that these are children’s books, it is done with sensitivity but yet not sugar-coating it at all.
So the Potter blackout is over – I am now seeking out all HP news on the net and watching the Dateline NBC special that was on last night.
GREAT GREAT GREAT book and an amazing series altogether.
I have decided to read books 1 though 6 before starting #7.
I forget a lot of the characters, plots etc., in the first few books and really wanted to refresh my memory. I can nto wait to begin # 7 (but I will).
p.s. thelink for Blogathon payment has not been working.
I click on the link and it opens up to a blank page where nothing else happens. Am I missing something?
MBM – just hit “refresh” – that has happened to a lot of people. But hitting “refresh” makes the page load up properly.
I’ve managed to avoid spoilers – blogs that I read have been good about posting warnings. I’m anxious to get this move done so that I can devote more time to reading it than I’m able to right now.
Okay, hitting refresh DID work – Thx for the heads-up!
One Page 156… just can’t really find time to pick up a book… What
I have read so far, I have liked. I am amazed you couldn’t remember who
had killed Dumbledor… that surprised about you.
