Book: Glue And Ink Rebellion

This book of short stories was written by a college friend of mine, Sean Carswell. I’ve written about his writing before. This second book sat on my Amazon wishlist for the longest time, until Denis finally bought it for me at Christmastime. It finally moved to the top of my reading list and I averaged two short stories a day until it was done. It’s a short book, but completely in line with his first book as far as character types, sensibility and style. In other words, I liked it.

The book dedication is to Sean’s brother, stating that some of the stories here are slightly modified tales of things that happened to his brother. But I could easily see them also happening to Sean with him just changing the names to protect the not-so-innocent. Especially given Sean’s background.

In any event, if you are a fan of short stories about the underprivileged who just don’t care, then this book is worth the read. His analysis of the “Star Wars” plotline in comparison to the US financial and political culture is insightful and hilarious.

I think your other boyfriend bought it for you for Christmas. I don’t believe I got you that book, but thanks for the credit. Either way, I’m glad you enjoyed it.
