I’m hosting the December meeting of my book club at my house, and I’m pleased that the author of the book I chose (“Confessions of a Super Mom” by Melanie Lynne Hauser) has kindly agreed to participate in our discussion via speaker phone. I had hoped I could bribe her into attending in person, coming a few days early to attend our White Elephant party, but I guess it’s close enough to the holidays that she’d rather be at home around that time.
Anyway, she emailed me yesterday to confirm that she’ll be participating by phone. I’m SO excited. I sent out an email to all 27 of our bookclubbers and the main coordinator emailed me back last night to warn me to expect a LOT of ladies that night since they know the author is going to be available for the night. So I’ll have to make sure I have plenty of wine on hand (those ladies like to DRINK IT UP at book club).
Holy cow, 27 participants!
Jean, we usually get anywhere between 8-15 ladies at any given meeting. But there are 27 on the list.
Should should start a side “Wine Club” and have everyone bring their fav. bottle of wine. Why should you be put out ALL that money just because you took the time to get the author involved.
Just a suggestion and a money saving tip
Ace – all the women who come bring something, whether it’s a bottle of wine or food. So I’m not too worried about it. Besides, we have about 10 bottles of wine stored away that Denis and I will NEVER drink, so I have no problem bringing it out for book club.
