Book: Angry Housewives Eating Bon-Bons

Lorna Landvik’s tale of a book club that meets for 30 years was surprisingly good. I was leary when I first started it, thinking that the characters would be very one-note, but instead each character is fully fleshed out and completely human. Faith, who wants to hide her past. Merit, who wants to hide her present. Audrey, who wants to hide from the future. Slip, who wants to take on the world. And Kari, who just wants another chance. Beginning in the 1960s, this book follows these women for 30+ years as they move from book club members to best friends. A nice mix of humor and sadness make this one a definite page turner and was a good pick (for obvious reasons) for the book club to read. A good summer reading book!

Seems like there are a lot of book club based books lately! But this one sounds good, I’ll definitely pick it up!

I loved this book! Wasn’t sure about the book club theme but wow! I loved following the development of the friendship between these 5 women and watching it evolve over 4 decades. It was something most of us could definitely relate to and find something to laugh, cry or sympathize over. The title is a bit deceiving, but as you read, you will see it is perfect!
