This book took me a while to read but was well worth it. A Gallant Company is a true account of the famous “Great Espace” from a WWII POW camp that inspired the Steve McQueen movie. Filled with biographies of the dozens of prisoners who attempted escape as well as detailed information on the multiple ingenious escape attempts, this book was rich with detail and excitement, despite knowing how it ends (50 of the 73 repcatured prisoners were shot).
I highly recommend this book.
4 Tom Dick and Harrys out of five.
