In a Plum Plum Plum!

Touching the Void One night last week I fell asleep on the sofa watching some travel show on PBS. Next thing I knew I heard the psychedelic chorus of “Brown Girl in the Ring” by Boney M. It was driving me mad, so I woke up completely and found that Touching the Void was playing on the tv. I had no idea what the movie was about because all I heard was another 2-3 minutes of “Brown Girl in the Ring” as a guy laid in the snow with his head against a rock.

Come to find out, it was a movie based on the true story of two mountain climbers who get into a bit of a jam in the Andes Mountains back in the 1980s. Because I came in so late to it, I didn’t really know what was going on other than the climbers thought one of their guys was dead, and left him out in the cold – but he wasn’t dead.

So today all day long for some reason I’ve been singing that stupid song and I can’t get rid of it. This despite the fact that I saw that clip over a week ago.

It’s a good movie, if you haven’t seen it before, worth watching.

I hate song worms. I had one a couple of months ago that lasted a l-o-n-g. Rolling Stones “Miss You”. I have no idea why it was that one, but it was persistent!
