The meeting was not the Meeting Of Doom, as expected. The partner confirmed that our firm is doing quite well despite the fact that other firms in our area are experiencing problems. That was comforting. He also said that NO ONE is getting laid off and that he wanted to lay that rumor to rest. That was also comforting.
The only bad news came in the form of compensation – as in, no one will be getting raises in 2009. No partner, no secretary. NO ONE. That’s fine with me – I get paid a decent salary and I can handle not getting a raise in 2009. Because that means I have a JOB, which some people DON’T have at this point.
That’s funny – the first thing I thought when I saw your post about the meeting was that they would let y’all know that there would be no raises or bonuses or extras next year. Glad it was not the Meeting of Doom.
