Here’s a riddle for you: What do you get when you mix a 100.9 fever and a cup of milk?
Answer: Your son vomiting all night long.
Yep, CootieBoy is officially sick. Woke up at 2:30 a.m. to find him shivering uncontrollably against my back. I hadn’t even heard him come in, I was so dead asleep. He shivered against me for a while and I was just about to turn and cuddle with him to warm him up when he gave out a little cough and promptly threw up. It’s a miracle it didn’t end up all over me. Denis and I quickly went to work – Denis helping CootieBoy throw up into the toilet, me cleaning the bed and grabbing towels. Then we switched and I cuddled a very hot and yet very shivery CootieBoy as Denis stripped the bed and pillows that got sprayed.
At 2:39 a.m. I started a load of laundry. We gave CootieBoy some fever reducer medicine and then Denis put CootieBoy into our bed and took over from there. At about 3:30 a.m. (I think that’s what time it was) Denis brought CootieBoy to me (where I laid on the couch trying to sleep (since my side of the bed now had a wet spot)) saying that CootieBoy wanted to watch Blue’s Clues. So CootieBoy laid on me watching Blue’s Clues while I attempted to sleep with a toddler crawling over me trying to get comfortable.
Needless to say I got no sleep and after watching Blue’s Clues for about 2 1/2 hours I just called it a night and got up and surfed the net while CootieBoy stayed on the sofa and eventually passed out. CootieGirl woke up 15 minutes later and joined me watching tv. At 7:10 a.m. I took my shower and began getting ready for work. By the time I got out, CootieBoy was up again. No longer feverish but a bit cranky. Obviously he stayed home from daycare today and I left early and took CootieGirl.
It’s a good thing I went to bed at 10:30 p.m. last night – I was able to get 4 hours of uninterrupted sleep. If I had gone to bed at midnight (as I’ve been doing recently) and then been awakened at 2:30 a.m.? I’d be COMATOSE right now. Don’t get me wrong – I’m still out of it (almost fell asleep a couple times driving to work), but it would have been worse.
