So last night CootieBoy came down with an earache and a fever. We think he’s getting in his back molars because he has no other symptoms if being sick. And he’s overdue to get those in. All attempts to give medicine have pretty much failed but he remained in good spirits (at least, when I was with him he was in good spirits – Denis’ mileage today may have varied).
Despite this, I left for the office around 10 a.m. and had a good half an hour to work on a long dictation tape before Mr. BIL got there. We then spent the next five hours cleaning out his office. We did really well – we got almost six full banker boxes worth of files out of there that he just didn’t need to keep in his office. We reorganized his two bookcases. We reorganized his four file drawers. We cleared his desk of all loose papers. We went through the stacks on my desk and cranked out some letters and invoicing since we were there.
By 3:45 p.m. we were winding down and I know he was very pleased with how much we got done, and also a bit tired from it all. My stack of things to do on Monday has doubled based on today’s work, but he urged me to take the lead on some projects and only consult him if I had a true legal question.
Before I left I went ahead and typed up my overtime sheet and had him sign it. I slipped it under the HR woman’s door so that on Monday she can go ahead and input it in the system. This means I’ll get a nice tidy addition to my next paycheck, which will be awesome.
What does this mean: “Denis’ mileage today may have varied”?
It meant that you might have not had as good a time with CootieBoy during the day as I did once I came home.
