A friend from work recently decided she wanted me to make a fleece baby receiving blanket for a baby shower. I ordered that fabric yesterday and pray it arrives in time for me to make it and give it to my co-worker before the shower. When I went to order the fabric, the price for shipping that one yard of fabric was so ridiculous that I opted to see what the shipping would be if I ordered more at one time.
I ended up buying about 12 yards of fleece (instead of 1 yard) and my shipping only doubled. What’s THAT about? In any event, I’m excited because I ordered some really cute fabrics with a goal of making at least 4-5 more blankets before my June art market event. It may be summertime, but I think baby receiving blankets will still be popular.
Then today I went searching for more Red Hat fabric. One lady on eBay is selling it for cheap, but her shipping is absolutely ridiculous (so ridiculous that I emailed her to call her on the exhorbitant shipping charge). Fortunately, I found another seller online whose pricing was more in keeping with the actual amount of fabric being shipped, and promptly ordered 6 yards of the Red Hat fabric from her. I know of at least two more fleece Red Hat patterns out there and plan on buying those at some point as well.
As for painting, I haven’t done any since the last weekend, when I went painting crazy and put up 5-6 listings at Etsy in that one weekend alone. I have one painting prepped and ready to be finished but just haven’t had the time this week to finish it. Maybe tonight. I also have a painting that I actually finished a couple of weeks ago but tweaked over the weekend. It’s finally ready to be listed and so I’ll put that up tonight after I get some good pictures of it. It’s another geometric abstract.
Lastly, I sent out an email this morning to all the ladies I contacted about the trunk show I am hoping to host in late September. I also put in a call to another facility to rent, hoping that the price is a bit lower. I also think this second facility might be better because it will have a lot of natural people traffic that will add to our visibility. So we’ll see – hopefully the rates are reasonable.
And that’s it for the creative world for now!
I keep forgetting to look for Red Hat beads. Bummer is that I just ordered a bunch of stuff and don’t plan on ordering more for a while. Unless I make sales at Mom’s open house this weekend.
I think people have panicked about the new shipping rates at the USPS.
