A Bit Disconcerting, But COOL!

I stepped away from my desk a few minutes ago and upon returning found a voicemail waiting for me. I hit “play” and heard a male voice say hello to me, saying that he had heard I moved to SC and thought he’d give me a call.

Now this call was interesting for several reasons.
1) He didn’t leave his name.
2) He called me by my maiden name.
3) He knew where I worked.

Obviously it’s someone from college, but I didn’t recognize the voice at all. I went down the hall to the office of my co-worker that I went to school with and asked if he had passed my information along to someone we went to school with. He said no, and came down to listen to the message. He told me that the number that the caller left was from Charleston but that he didn’t recognize it.

So I called the number and it turns out it’s SL, who I was good friends with for a couple years during school. Apparently DP, who we saw at church in Fort Mill last month, passed along my information to SL who looked up my firm’s phone number and gave a jingle over here.

My favorite memory of SL (so that my family knows who I am talking about): SL came home with me one weekend and was fascinated by the fact that my family didn’t talk while watching tv unless there was a commercial on. He thought that was so weird (I know the brother of another friend from college also thought that was quite strange). SL also loves the fact that we watched Mystery Science Theater 3000 that weekend and I think he can probably even remember to this day the name of the movie (I think it was “Rocketship X-M” and I only know that because I just looked it up on an MST3K website).

Anyway, SL’s cell phone was being wonky because he was in a bad area, so he’s going to call me back this afternoon to catch up on what is happening. Can’t wait to hear how he is doing.

Wow. My family MST3K’s movies and TV shows all the time, and my parents don’t even know what MST3K is. 🙂

Not at the theater, though.* Just at home. Thought I should clarify that.

*Except once, on accident. During “Babe”. At the dollar theater. I blurted out “Pig!” at the end of the farmer lady’s statement that “We don’t have a dog named (and then she faints)…”.

I remember that Thanksgiving, but I don’t know who SL is unless you’re encrypting too well.
