…plus the aforementioned 7 awful free Kindle books that I refuse to even list because they were that bad. But that makes 41 books for the year – which is a good amount for me. For reference, I only finished 31 books in 2015.
Best book of 2016: I won’t say Jane Eyre, since it’s my favorite book of all time and is permanently in the #1 spot. I really did enjoy Cary Elwe’s memoir of the making of “The Princess Bride,†called As You Wish. Just a really fun story and listening to him read his own audiobook made even more delightful (he’s British, you know). I also loved Leah Remini’s recounting of her life in Scientology. She is blisteringly funny – her reading her own audiobook was hilarious.
Worst book of 2016: I was REALLY disappointed in Career of Evil by Robert Galbraith. It was unnecessarily gruesome and, well, evil, and made me decide not to read any more Galbraith books, even though I love the character Cormoran Strike. For those who don’t know, Robert Galbraith is the pseudonym for J.K. Rowling, who wrote the Harry Potter books.
