Early to Bed

Last night Denis and I were watching tv, and I think it’s safe to say we were both out cold by 8:35 p.m. At least, I know I was. Denis fought sleep a bit longer and flipped channels for a while, but at some point he passed out too. I woke up at 10:15 p.m., woke up Denis and said, “Let’s go.” I was in bed by 10:20 p.m. and asleep by 10:21 p.m. It was GLORIOUS.

I think I’m officially a morning person now, which kind of sucks. For the longest time, my optimum hours were 10 p.m. – 5 a.m. (when I was going to clubs 4 nights a week). Then they shifted a bit and my optimum hours were 7 p.m. – 1 a.m. Now? I’m yawning by 10 p.m. and can wake up pretty easily when my alarm goes off at 6 a.m. (I go through two snoozes and get up at 6:18 a.m.).

Granted, it’s 8:54 a.m. now and I’m yawning, but that’s more out of boredom than anything else. My workday hasn’t quite begun yet – it doesn’t officially start until 9 a.m., despite my arrival daily at 8 a.m.

Maybe that is God’s way of helping you adjust to parenting ~ seriously. Also, our bodies do tell us when we need rest and very often we just ignore it and gut it out, especially new moms. You both are wise in listening!

I think we could both sleep three days straight and that wouldn’t be enough. Someone said we’ll catch up on sleep in 18 years. Make it nineteen or twenty now.
