So this morning the tickets go on sale for the all-in-one-day Lord of the Rings trilogy airing in select nationwide theaters in December. I took a walk by the theater in NYC where this is to take place and at 8:30 a.m. there were only TEN PEOPLE IN LINE. I was shocked by this – I figured the Nerd Alert would have gotten out and the line would be down the block. I spoke for a few minutes with one of the waitees, and he said that the tickets also go up for sale online, but that he feared the computer system would max out, so he decided to wait in line at the theater instead.
So now I’m in a quandry – do I walk back over to the theater around 11 a.m. (that’s in 15 minutes) and hope the line isn’t that long and wait until noon to see if I can get tickets, or do I sit comfortably at my desk waiting for noon to roll around and see if I can get tickets online instead?
Two things could happen: 1) there could be no ticket limit per purchase, and if the line at the theater is 50 people long, I could STILL miss out on tickets because some yo-yo ahead of me bought 25 tickets instead of 2 or 5, or 2) I could get lost in the void of Fandango.com and never quite connect quickly enough to get tickets.
blah I wish we could prebuy š for any movie. for $9.50 a ticket you’d think?????
