Today I turned 41 years old. I’m grateful that my mother didn’t do her annual call at 9:21 a.m., the time at which I was born, because I was extremely hungover from a party I went to last night. Extremely. Hungover. As in, I had to crash at the host’s apartment because I was in NO CONDITION to drive home. When I did finally arrive home, I quickly went to bed and never wanted to wake up. It was a great party though.
Alas, I did eventually wake up – about 11 a.m. (God bless children that can entertain themselves with games and tv watching while their parent sleeps in). And boy howdy did I still feel miserable. As I mentioned on Facebook, I never intend to party like a rock star again – my body doesn’t like it too much.
Denis arrived home from church and we did a quick gift swawp. He got a few CDs from the kids (the remaining part of his present is still in the mail and should arrive tomorrow or Tuesday). I got some awesome shirts for work and Seasons 1 and 2 of “True Blood,” which I’ve never seen, but am excited about. I recently started the Sookie Stackhouse books and lamented that we didn’t have HBO so I couldn’t watch the series. But now I can!
I had originally intended to take the kids to Carowinds today, but there was NO WAY I was going out in 90+ degree heat with the splitting headache I had. So instead the kids and I have enjoyed Movie Day while Denis went out to watch the Mets game as part of his Father’s Day celebration. We watched “Star Wars: The Phantom Menace” and then “Harry Potter and the Sorceror’s Stone.”
I debated taking the kids to the pool, but am not in the mood. Denis has talked the kids into going to the pool, so we’ll all be hading out in a bit. If I could go back to bed, I would. I’ve had only a piece of toast to eat today. This morning Denis mentioned making shrimp for dinner and my stomach literally rolled over in protest.
Happy Belated Birthday!
I’m addicted to True Blood. It’s a bit different from the Sookie Stackhouse novels, but it’s every bit as enjoyable 🙂
