Peeling Away The Layers

So I got a really bad sunburn this past Saturday at OBX. So bad, in fact, that it’s now 6 days later and my shoulders and upper back are sloughing off dead skin faster than I can deal with. I took the kids to the pool today for a couple hours, and even those two hours made it even worse (not the sunburn, but the peeling). I need a loofah and some cocoa butter.

It was a busy week – CootieBoy graduated from his Pre-K class this week. He looked very cute in his cap and gown (which was really a man’s white shirt put on backwards). Pictures to come at some point. He’s very excited that he gets to start kindergarten in August.

On the other hand, CootieGirl was ONE WEEK left of kindergarten. It’s hard to believe she has a week left. Today she brought home her entire year’s worth of journals and you can really see the difference from September to May in her writing skills, the pictures she draws, and her general knowledge. Yes, I’m very proud. =)

This week my cousin came to visit overnight. She had an interview here in Charlotte and I basically demanded that she come and stay the night rather than driving here for the interview and then back to Fayetteville. She brought her daughter – who is CootieBoy’s age, and the three kids had a blast playing together. It was also nice to get to know my cousin together – she is 13 years younger than me and I babysat her when she was a baby. And while we saw each other a couple times a year through her childhood, it has been even more sporadic since I got married and moved away from Virginia (where my family is mostly based). So I enjoyed getting to know her a bit better and admit that I hope she DOES move to the area.

This weekend we don’t have much planned. I’ll probably take the kids to the pool again tomorrow (weather permitting), but other than that, it’s going to be pretty chill!!
