TV: American Idol – What Year Was She Born? Gah, I’m Old.

Okay, let’s go through last night’s performances, shall we?

Danny Gokey, “Stand By Me”: Meh. This guy is the same every single week. Sure, he can sing fine, but he never changes things up. In a phrase: BORING.

Kris Allen, “All She Wants to Do Is Dance”: I only heard this as opposed to sitting and watching it. What I heard was decent. A bit frantic, but decent. But I do agree with Randy that the arrangement was distracting. Not as much as Randy felt, but while listening to it I kept thing, “Well that’s an interesting chord choice,” as opposed to listening to Kris. But I still think Kris did a good job.

Lil Rounds, “What’s Love Got To Do With It”: Judges, please stop telling me that this woman is a fantastic singer. Yes, she is. But she has NO personality whatsoever. Melinda Doolittle had personality. Jennifer Hudson had personality. Tamyra Gray had personality. Those women all got booted too soon. Lil? Can’t be booted soon enough.

Anoop Desai, “True Colors”: Ah ha – so by now we’ve figured it out. He can sing ballads REALLY well. But nothing else. Well, last I checked, Air Supply isn’t really a much sought-after band, so I don’t think Anoop will last much longer. I didn’t see his supposed obnoxious reponse to Kara last week (Tivo’s fast forward button is my friend while watching Idol) but apparently he committed a major faux pas. His ballad tonight should save him – but not for long.

Scott MacIntyre, “The Search Is Over”: When Scott attempted to find some high note at some point during his song, I turned to Denis and said, “He sounds like a cat that just had his tail stepped on.” Seriously – that was murderously bad. Hideous. Worthy of past contestants like Kevin Covais, Scott Savol and Nikki McKibben. Blerg. PLEASE go home tonight. Please, Scott, with your MOR radio vibe straight out of the 1980s when you were born.

Allison Iraheta, “I Can’t Make You Love Me”: She’s be the last woman standing (hopefully). This is one of my favorite Bonnie Raitt songs, and Allison did it justice with a brilliant performance that was the second best of the night. But wow – she was born in 1992? I feel very old right now – I was out of college for a year already in 1992.

Matt Giraud, “Part-Time Lover”: I’ve mentioned before that I hate hearing Stevie Wonder covers on Idol. They are never done well. NEVER (save Ricky Braddy’s last performance during the Wild Card episode). Matt seemed like he was on speed or something – way to frenetic on stage and all over the place with his vocals. Not impressed.

Adam Lambert, “Mad World”: He did my favorite version of “Mad World” (the Gary Jules version). And once again I love Adam (he drives me crazy because I hate him one week and adore him the next).

Who should be in the bottom three: Scott, Lil, Matt
Who I wish would go home: Scott

I basically agree with you, except that I put Kris in the bottom 3 instead of Matt.

*spoiler alert* All indications are that Kris is getting the boot (see: DialIdol) but I pray the judges use the save on him if he is indeed the lowest vote-getter tonight.
