Let me preface this by saying – WOW, Randy Travis looks like a walking corpse. Seriously – WAY too thin, dude. Go eat some Cheetos.
Michael Sarver, “Ain’t Goin’ Down (‘Til the Sun Comes Up)”: Boring! Which is surprising considering this guy is a country singer. But wow – he was no match for this song. Sorry, Sarver – unless your TX fans called in to support, you are definitely bottom three this week.
Allison Iraheta, “Blame It On Your Heart”: I thought she did an okay job – at least she didn’t scream the entire thing, which is a step in the right direction.
Kris Allen, “To Make You Feel My Love”: I pre-ordered this cover on iTunes this morning. Loved every second of it. He did a GREAT job and last night the fangirls forgave him for being married. *lol*
Lil Rounds, “Independence Day”: Poor Lil – I appreciate her attempt to remain true to country, and her vocals were perfect, but given the kudos that later singers got for NOT remaining true, I think she could have done better. I DO NOT agree with the judges that she should have done “I Will Always Love You,” one of the most over-done songs in the history of music. She would have only been told she’s not as good as Whitney. So brava to her for NOT choosing that song. However, there were other choices out there (any Shania ballad) that she could have done really well with.
Adam Lambert, “Ring of Fire”: I’ve said many times that I don’t like Lambert. At all. But last night? I liked him. Why? He didn’t scream those horrific screams that he loves so much. That immediately gave him a better grade than he normally would have gotten. I also admit to liking the weird eastern-flavored rendition of “Ring of Fire” (can anyone tell me who actually DOES this version?). Believe it or not – I pre-ordered this one on iTunes too. But I guarantee it’ll be the ONLY Lambert song that litters my MP3 player.
Scott MacIntyre, “Wild Angels”: This was even more boring than Sarver’s song. Definitely in the bottom three.
Alexis Grace, “Jolene”: Not very good last night, but I’m not worried about her. She’ll sail through this round and will be back next week.
Danny Gokey, “Jesus Take the Wheel”: No comment, other than – still not on the Gokey train. He did fine, I guess. I’m just not a fan.
Anoop Desai, “You’re Always On My Mind”: This is iTune pre-order number three. He did a FANTASTIC job with a song that I actually HATE. So for me to PURCHASE it? Has to be good.
Megan Joy, “I Go Walking After Midnight”: I really hope she’s the one to go home tonight. I’m sorry – it was just awful. And don’t tell me, “But she was sick!” Kelly Clarkson was sick and HAD NO VOICE when she sang, “All By Myself” during her season, and she knocked it out of the park. Her practice with Randy Travis gave me hope she’d do a good job, but her live performance was horrific.
Matt Giraud, “So Small”: My last iTunes pre-order of the night. I don’t even know this song but I LOVED it. Very powerful ballad and he did a fantastic job. Best of the night, bar none.
Picks for bottom three: Sarver, Megan and Scott
Who WILL go home: Scott
Who SHOULD go home: Megan

I love reading your opinions on AI8! Bottom 3? Megan, Michael, Scott?
Dilanna, or whatever her name was, from one of the Rock Star seasons is the one who did that version of Ring of Fire.
Sue – yeah, I downloaded Dilana’s version during that season. LOVED her version. But was hers wholly original, or was it a cover of someone else’s version (meaning, a famous person’s). Also, Dilana’s version is not overtly eastern like Lambert’s was.
They said on Wednesday night that it was a Jeff Buckley cover.
I hated it, btw.
YAY! You finally got an avatar!!
Yeah, I thought it was long overdue for people to enjoy my cuteness. 😉
RE: Adam Lambert’s version of “Ring of Fire” – I finally downloaded the pre-order that I got from iTunes and his recorded version (which is done in the studio) is much more low-key and wonderful. It was almost like he was channeling Jeff Buckley when he recorded the new cover version. If he sang like this on the SHOW, I’d be a huge fan (it’s why I liked him at his audition but hated him after that).
Also – Sue, I listened to the newer Dilana version of “Ring of Fire” on iTunes and her newer cover definitely has the Eastern tinge. And it makes sense that Adam would know that version – he has performed with Dilana in live shows in LA, so he has probably heard her sing it many times. The Dilana version I have (which was recorded live on “Rock Star” is not nearly as Eastern as her professional recorded version now on iTunes.
Hi,
Not sure that this is true:), but thanks for a post.
Have a nice day
