The deadline for finishing my transcription job is tonight. I have about two more hours of dictation to get through, which is probably about 4 hours of work if I put my head down and just do it. In reality, it’ll probably take me about 6+ hours because I’ll keep getting interrupted for whatever reason.
In other news, a friend of mine that owns a company here in Charlotte has asked me to do some freelance work for him on his website. It’s mostly pretty basic stuff (I did about an hour’s worth of work on last night), but I’m happy to do it because it’s that much more extra money that we need to pay bills. The main order of business will be getting him to move from his current hosting company to BlueHost. His current control panel is a mess and the ONLY way I could get to his files was via FTP! He’s also paying a lot more on a per-month basis for his current account and not getting as much service as he would if he paid $8/month to BlueHost.
Another friend of mine contacted me about paying me to reformat his resume for him – he’s looking to make a career change and wants to revamp his current document. I told him I’d be happy to do it.
So yes, there are opportunities out there for me to make a few extra bucks here and there. YAY!
