This weekend was filled with lots of typing for the freelance job, as well as staying up late to watch movies I had recorded on Tivo a few weeks ago.
One movie was “Camille Claudel” which is a French film from 1989 starring Gerard Depardieu and Isabelle Adjani. It’s about a sculptor who apprenticed under Auguste Rodin, became his lover, and eventually when crazy. I began watching it on Saturday night, not realizing that it was FOUR HOURS LONG (thanks for the hour-plus of commercials, OvationTV). Once I was 2 1/2 hours into it I knew I had to finish it. It was a very good movie and Claudel had a very tragic life. I may see if I can find a biography about her to read.
Earlier in the evening I had watched the first half of a new version of “Tess of the D’Urbervilles” on Masterpiece Classics. When I was doing with “Claudel” I saw that the second half was airing live on TV. So I stayed up and watched that too.
I didn’t get to bed until 4 a.m. I watched EIGHT HOURS of tragic, but riveting, storytelling. *lol*
