I NEVER read more than one book at a time. I can’t even imagine any instance in the past where I’ve read two books at the same time. But right now I’m reading FOUR books at one time.
I started “The Kite Runner” soon after seeing the movie a few months ago. I’m only about 75 pages in, but do plan on finishing it despite knowing the entire story already.
I started “Rise to Rebellion” just over a month ago. I’m about 1/3rd of the way through, but find it difficult to read. The historical subject is certainly interesting (the colonies’ break from England and the American Revolution), but despite my interest in the subject, the reading is rather bland.
While in New Jersey last week I started reading “Cash,” the second autobiography of Johnny Cash. I have owned the book for a while and thought it would be a good read while on vacation. I was right – the stories are interesting and it looks like it’ll be a good book. I’ve only read about 100 pages, but it’s good reading.
Today I started “Breaking Dawn,” the fourth and last book in the Twilight series. I read the first three in quick succession since I bought them all at once. Then “BD” came out and I opted to wait and see if I got the book for Christmas. If not, then I’d buy it. When visiting Ace he told me I could borrow his copy to read. So I brought that home and started it today on my lunch hour. I had forgotten how annoying Bella Swan can be in the books. *lol* I like the series, but as a heroine she’s lacking. But I predict that I’ll read through this one quickly since 1) it’s teen lit and 2) it’s about vampires (my favorite topic second only to Tudor England).
So yeah, four books. And I think I’ll finish them in the exact opposite order of how I started them. “Breaking Dawn” will be winging its way back to Ace by Friday. “Cash” will be finished before Christmas. “Rise to Rebellion” will be finished by the end of January, and “Kite Runner” will follow sometime after that.
And this month I’ve decided NOT to read the book club book – if only because I don’t have enough time!!
Have you read the Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris? I started it after the Twilight series and I love love love it! It’s pretty much and adult version of Twilight, but Sookie is MUCH more likable than Bella. I’m on book #5 now, about 2 months after starting the series.
Cristan – I’ll have to look into that series and put it on my Amazon wishlist. Thanks!
