Bosses Day, Schmosses Day

Last night around 9:15 p.m. I panicked because I remembered that I agreed to make something for the Bosses Day Breakfast this morning. Fortunately, I had most of the ingredients. Unfortunately I didn’t have one of the most important ones. So I quickly called Denis, who was at the gym, and asked him to go buy some almonds on his way home.

Last night was also a productive night in that I was able to get another blanket made. This time I opted to make a twin-size kids blanket. It’s half the size of the adult sized blankets, but twice the size of the hand-tied baby blankets that I make. I’m going to try to make another 4-5 in this same size because it’s a good size for toddlers at naptime.

My mouth hurts. The tooth kind of aches, but it’s my jaw that is still killing me today. Last night at some point I woke up in pain and realized that it was because I was sleeping on the side of my face that had been worked on. I flipped over and tried to go back to sleep, but it was hard with the pain I was feeling. Root canals SUCK. Stupid loose fillings.

CootieBoy has been good at school lately, as such, we’ve been playing a lot of Lego Batman recently. It’s a fun game. Not as fun as Lego Indiana Jones – but I think part of that is that LIJ was the FIRST Lego game we ever played, and so he and I just really enjoyed it. Lego Batman is more fun than Lego Star Wars though. I have a feeling that I’ll be finishing LSW on my own at some point.

In Facebook news, yesterday I looked up an old buddy that I worked with back in the day when I was engaged to Denis and still living in Virginia, and he was on there. I shouldn’t have been surprised – he’s a super-techy web guy and was probably the tenth person to sign up for Facebook. *lol*

I watched most of the debate last night and enjoyed it. I much prefer that conversational format over the town hall meetings or the stand-at-the-podium format. It makes it seem more like an episode of Charlie Rose than a presidential debate.

Our small group leader has opted to have a ladies’ tea for our girl’s night in next week. As such, I ordered some scone mix from my mother as well as a specialty blend for the fall season. Today at lunch I’ll be on the hunt for clotted cream to go with the scones. I’ve been told that the deli section at Harris Teeter has been known to have it. If not, then I’ve also been told that EarthFare in Rock Hill almost definitely has a UK food section (aye, but do they have delicious HAGGIS, me lads and lassies?).

Okay, back to work. I came in today to find a multitude of dictation from yesterday that our floater didn’t bother doing while she sat here all day. Don’t know what she did other than sit here.

Your Mom Makes and sells scone mix? I never knew that. Is this on her website or just for “family”

Jaynee, contact Mom for her clotted cream recipe. It’s easy to make and probably cheaper than the real stuff + gas to traipse all over town on the hunt.

The recipe for Mock Devonshire Cream is in the TFAR Cookbook. :-)I believe you have a copy. If you can’t find it, let me know and I’ll get you the recipe. It is super easy. I should have thought to mention the Apple Cinnamon Curd which would be fantastic on the Pumpkin Scones.
