We think they are baby rabbits. But now looking at this picture I’m leaning towards squirrels. Either way, they are cute. What do you think? Any rodent experts out there?

Well, the top one has tiny ears…but it looks like one of the others has longer ears. I have no clue what they could be. But they are really cute.
As for the pictures of CootieGirl – so precious. I think I’ve said that before. The one of you holding her is fantastic! She is bee-yoo-ti-ful. *wipes a tear*
These animals now have a squirrel or chipmunk color not a jack rabbit, so I’m tossing that out again. I really think they are squirrels now. Time will tell.
As for the other cute cutie, CootieGirl, she is bee-yoo-ti-ful. Even when she cries. And she was doing plenty of that last night and even during the “photo shoot” with me. Jaynee was able to catch her in between fusing Can’t wait until you get to see her again. Hopefully, for Jaynee’s birfday. Sounds like that might be O’s first big trip. Not sure how we are going to manage both Cooper and CootieGirl in the same vehicle for four + hours, but we’ll figure it out.
I agree that the animals look like squirrels, but what do I know. I am certainly no expert. As for olivia…I love that outfit…very cute. I think the person who bought that one should be a winner like the one who bought the Carter jumper. Very cute!
Christy, I agree, it’s a very cute outfit. I can’t remember where that one came from. We got so many gifts from so many great people. Plus we bought a bunch of outfits ourselves. This gurl could change outfits four times a day and still not run through all her clothes for over a week.
CootieGirl is beautiful! I know I’ve said that before, but I’m saying it again. You two are truly blessed.
I had rabbits, and still do, nesting every year in my backyard. I was going to say when you first posted their pictures that they looked like baby rabbits.
Far be it for me to say or know for that matter, but I think squirrels make their nests in trees.
Anyway, time will tell.
Mmmm, the eyes look just like squirrel eyes, how are the tails?
You must tell CootieGirl to stop growing, stop changing in any way! I am missing it! I am missing her! The hair is looking even redder.
Kiss kiss, hug hug.
I wish they could always stay this size. Hard for us to really notice the growth, but we see it. I haven’t seen their tails. Only Jaynee has. They came out of the hole for her once. I think they have short stubby tails when they roll around in the hole. I could be wrong.
Having looked at the animals again, I think they are rabbits. Their ears look REALLY long today…
Hello,
those are NOT baby rabbits…
I am a rabbit breeder and those are defenetely NOT rabbits. They are either chipmunks or squirrels.
Hello,
Well I am also no a rabbit or squirrel expert but my rabbit just gave birth to 7 babies 14 days ago today. As I look at the picture the nest looks identical to that of my rabbit, the mother pulls hair from her underside and places it in the nest to keep the babies warm. Though I don’t know if squirrels perform this same task. Also one of the babies in your picture seems to have long ears, to my knowledge I have never seen a long eared squirrel, not to say that anything is possible but judging by the nest and ears I would say they are rabbits, then again rabbits usually burrow a nest in the ground. As I said again I am only a lay men on this but I am glad I could pass on this message.
Maybe we should ask CootieGirl, cuteness knows cuteness!!
Well I wish you well in your qwest for the answer.
looks like squirells or chipmunks to me. i think squirells build their nests in trees. but chipmunks would burrow. kind of look like a rabbit squirell mix. could that happen. i guess so stranger things happen. at least we dont have to guess what your pretty little baby girl is. hahaha what a pretty baby. you have me wondering now what these are.
dey r def. chipmunks. i breed rabbits and their colorations make it totally impossible for them to be rabbits.they are v.sweet tho!!!
i just picked up an animal from outdside. It looks like a rabbit but its ears are cut off, not its fault, something horrible has happened to this animal before. The thing that really makes me wonder is that its back feet are so tiny, aren’t rabbits back legs supposed ot be big?
Carissa, yes, an adult rabbit’s feet are definitely large, but who knows on a baby rabbit just how big they are? I suggest you take the animal to a vet if it’s still alive and have them check it out, then release it back into the wild in a park or forest near your house.
Guys,
So what is it? We have the same in our back yard.
I’m very worry, because I didn’t see their mother and I don’t know if she still feed them.
If sombody could tell me.
Thanks,
Slava P
Today, I had to stop and stare at what I thought was a squirrel. It had the face and coloring of a squirrel…but it had no tail, it hopped like a Rabbit and it’s body shape looked like a Rabbit. I didn’t notice the feet, but when it climed up into a tree it didn’t climb like a squirrel….it kind of made little jumps. My husband and Son-in-Law think I’m crazy. I’m wondering if this could be possible…. for them to mate and have Babies? I know what I saw. From here on in I’ll be taking my camera to work and hope to see this cute little animal again.
Hello,
I have been all over the internet trying to find out what I have in my back yard and then I stumbled on this picture. I have the same animals living in a hole in my yard. The nest is maybe 6 inches in diameter and 4-5 inches deep. The animals have stubby tails and long hind feet. I know the coloring isn’t that of a rabbit, but all pictures that I have found of squirrels and chipmunks have long tails. I’m stumped?! Any help?
those are definatly rabbits squirls live in trees!
