Oh, What a Night

First night home, first night of little sleep. We thought CG had been such a good girl up to this point, but now that we have her home, we’ve seen her true personality. Give me food! More food! I don’t want to sleep!

I fed her two ounces of formula at two a.m., and burped and rocked her for the next hour, but she wasn’t tired. Nothing seemed to settle her. I left her in the crib and Jaynee and I thought she’d cry herself to sleep. No dice. Marmie eventually got up and spent the next four or five hours rocking, and eventually feeding her again. She ate three or four ounces this time. We are going to have a chunker. It’s baby fat, right?

Whoever said taking care of a puppy is good preparation for taking care of a baby was wrong! I think it was me who said that. A puppy needs to be let out every few hours, does what he has to do, and goes back to sleep. That is not CG.

Angie, you’re in for a treat. Hope you have an angel.

And Jaynee is in a lot of pain. I’m trying to make her comfortable by constantly moving pillows around. Three on the back, two under the legs, two behind the head, then move them all around again, five minutes later. Hope she feels better very soon. The tears have been flying. It’s not me, it’s the hormones. She’s going to ask the doc for a sleeping pill prescription.

Ginger finally slept in the bed with us, something she did not do at all while mom was in the hospital. We were pretty successful at keeping her off mommy’s sore belly.

Today, I hope to register the truck at the dmv, and run a few other errands. Let’s see how it goes. The weather is nice at least.

And don’t forget – tonight is American Idol! Nothing raises the spirits like Roooo-ben! heh.

Sounds like you have a perfectly normal baby guys. Hang in there, it will eventually get better!

Gee, that sounds a lot like our first night home! It gets better…but not right away…you will do fine once you get the hang of not a lot of sleep and just when that happens she will sleep through the night and you will wake up after 6 hours in a panic and run to the crib and she will be sound asleep. BUT for now, no sleep!

Whoever said the puppy thing must not have babies!

I promise there is sleep in the future…I promise.

It’s like the sleep nazi is in your face saying ” NO SLEEP FOR YOU THREE MONTHS”

Congratulations! Welcome to parenthood. We are thrilled for your new 18 year+ journey with CootieGirl. She looks like a little Irish lass with those pretty strawberry strands of hair. (We redheads have to stick together!) I leave for Atlanta then DC then Chicago for (what else?) more business events. I’ll try to pick up something cute for CootieGirl in my travels. Sleep is overrated…enjoy this time with your little one! Warm wishes–Meredyth & Jonathan

Tara, that was me who made that puppy comment and I will never make it to anyone every again. I know there’s sleep coming. Jaynee doesn’t have post-partum, just a case of the crankies. Actually, she’s just angry that her incision isn’t healing as fast as she’d like, but she is getting better every day.

Thanks, Meredyth and Jonathan. Hope you two are doing well. You are all caught up on us. Have you set a date? How’s work, life and everything else? Drop us an e-mail when you get the chance. Hope we can see you soon.
