Games/Options Coming Soon to a Wii Near You

I just found out about a few new games that are being developed for the Wii. I’m VERY excited about them.

1) Frisbee. How awesome would that be? From what I gather, you’d hold the remote as though it were a frisbee and mimic the action of throwing it, and on the screen you’d see where it goes and if it hits the target.

2) JetSki. I’m not how much FUN this would be, but I think as a balance game (similar to Balancing Bubble on the WiiFit) it could be fun and involve more than just using your feet to create pressure on the board.

3) Swordfighting. This sounds like a LOT of fun and may be just as physical as the Boxing on WiiSports.

As for options, I’m very happy about the sound option that is coming up. Within a couple weeks of owning the Wii I thought it would be fun to be able to connect with other users not just to play games, but to TALK to one another. For instance, if I’m playing “Super Marios Smash Bros.” with Ace, I want to be able to throw out some smacktalk when I beat him. Right now we’d only be able to do that if we use our cellphones and put them on speaker. Not the best option.

But fortunately, Nintendo is doing something about it, and will have WiiSpeak – a device similar to the motion sensor bar – that acts as a speakerphone of sorts while you are playing WiFi games. It can be used for other things as well, but that’s the primary use I’D have it for. I’m VERY excited about this development.

Now for old school gamers, these games may not sound like fun compared to Wario, Zelda, or Donkey Kong. But for those who are new to gaming and are using their Wii to try and become more active and healthy – these new games will be a great addition.
