TV: Wipeout – My New Favorite Game Show

I laughed myself silly through the entire first episode of “Wipeout” last night. I loved it. At some point I turned to Denis and I said, “I’d TOTALLY do this show to try and win $50,000! It looks like so much fun!”

I love how the female host openly laughed when contestants would fall in the water. It was just a REALLY fun show and if you missed it you HAVE to tune in for next week’s episode.

As for “I Survived a Japanese Game Show” I was a little disappointed. It wasn’t as entertaining, but then, I didn’t know it was going to be a REALITY show as opposed to being strictly a game show. So that part of it kind of turned me off a bit. But I’ll watch a couple more weeks and see if it grows on me.

Let me just say they must do a lot of casting calls in Charlotte. Not only were two players on “Japanese Game Show” from our area (Charlotte and Matthews, respectively), but I found out last night that Petrozza on “Hell’s Kitchen” is also from Charlotte! GO PETROZZA (Denis and I both really like him and have since the beginning of the season).

I heart Petrozza. He is so sweet and loveable and great in the kitchen even being a slob. I pegged him as potential winner in the first episode. I so hope he wins!

I loved Wipeout! It was so nuts. I hope people didn’t get seriously injured. I don’t think $50k would be enough for me to want to do those stunts.

I enjoyed Japanese Gameshow, but it wasn’t exactly what I expected. I, too, was hoping more for a total gameshow, rather than a reality show as well. Still looks like it might be funny.

I didn’t see it myself, but it sounds from the preview that Wipeout is an American version of the Japanese game show that was the basis of the Spike Channel “Most Extreme Elimination” show. Same kind of crazy stunts, clueless competitors, snarky commentators.
