Culture, Culture, Culture

I’ve said it before – I’ll say it again. One of the things I love about living in Charlotte is how cheap the tickets are for cultural events. I got an email today about David Sedaris coming back to Charlotte for a book reading (his new book just came out). Denis and I had a blast at his reading here in Charlotte last April, so I immediately called Denis to see if he wanted to go again.

After a very brief discussion, he said he was in. I had a caveat: separate seats. If we got seats together we’d be on the far left about 20 rows back. I told him if we got single seats he could be third row center, and I could be right near him. He laughed at me and said he didn’t have to be up close, but after only a little mild begging on my part, he acquiesced. So I got two single seats. My seat ended up being three rows behind him and three seats over. I love that we’re going to be close enough to see Sedaris’ facial expressions while he reads.

What’s crazy is that my seat was $12 cheaper than Denis’. Weird, right? Only 3 rows back! The grand total (including those pesky fees) is equal to what ONE ticket would have cost in NYC. LOVE that. L-Train said people in C’lotte hate the prices, and we agreed the grass is always greener. For those of us from NYC this is a bargain city for live events.
