Ah, Vacations – A Wonderful Thing!

I love planning vacations. I’m totally in vacation mode right now since we leave in 14 days for our own vacation. We’re going to Quebec next year but we haven’t even started thinking about where we’ll go in 2010. I presume it’ll be a family vacation since the Quebec trip is just Denis and me.

One of my favorite vacations as a kid – well, a teenager, really – was when I went to Nashville with my grandmother and a few of her friends. I had JUST gotten my driver’s license and my grandmother let me drive almost the WHOLE WAY, which was very cool (although I was petrified driving on the freeway in Nashville proper because there was a LOT of traffic). We were in Nashville for the Hee Haw Clogging Championship, in which my grandmother and her friends were participating in the geezer category. I have always loved dancing, and good clogging is AMAZING to watch and I had a blast with those ladies.

I love watching “The Amazing Race” because it lets me dream of exotic traveling. I know that when they took a flight to Dubai this past season I was SPELLBOUND by how beautiful that place looked. There was a photoblogger recently who posted a series of photos he took in Dubai that were breathtaking. Who knows – maybe I can talk Denis into going there when it’s a bit more affordable (it’s certainly not right now!).

I don’t know if this would be feasible, but I wonder if DialAFlight (which is a travel company in the UK) would let us consider booking through them? I wonder if we’d somehow get a better rate if we flew to the UK for part of the vacation and then on Dubai via a reservation with DialAFlight. Something to think about.
