Grocery Game – First in a While

I have to say I haven’t been grocery shopping that much lately. Denis has been doing it over the past couple of weeks because for the most part we’ve only needed a handful of items from week to week.

But today was the day to continue to stockpile or take advantage of major bargains. Harris Teeter, which hasn’t had really outstanding deals for the past few weeks, had a LOT going on this week. And I was shocked that everything I wanted was in stock (unlike during triple coupon week when NOTHING was in stock). I also went to Lowes, although the Lowes list wasn’t as impressive. But between the two stores I did really well.

At Lowe’s I had coupons for 90% of what I bought. And what I didn’t have coupons for was on sale anyway.

Total Items: 21
Total Original Price: $76.13
Total Paid: $45.40
Total Saved: $30.93
Total Percentage Saved: 41%

Not bad, right? Well, check how I did at Harris Teeter:

Total Items: 47
Total Original Price: $146.44
Total Paid: $63.94
Total Saved: $82.50
Total Percentage Saved: 56%

Look at that! What I loved was that the checker had to bring in a manager to override the transaction because I saved over $80 on the order. That’s AWESOME. There were some decent “Buy 2 Get 3 Free” deals which I took advantage of.

So my totals for the week:

Total Items: 68
Total Original Price: $222.57
Total Paid: $109.34
Total Saved: $113.43
Total Percentage Saved: 51%

Also, I stopped by Rite Aid to pick up some toothpaste (I don’t NEED toothpaste (we have about 10 tubes in the house already), but the deal was too good to miss). Colgate Whitening is $2.99 for the 4 oz. tubes. I had two coupons for $1.50 off. So I got two tubes for $2.98 and some tax. BUT. Rite Aid is running a rebate for Colgate Whitening – for $2.99. So basically I paid 20 cents for each tube of toothpaste. That’s AWESOME.

So all in all, a good shopping day!!
