Initial Study Appointment

So I got to the medical research place at 1 p.m. and spent 20 minutes filling out paperwork about my entire medical history. I then spent 30 minutes going over all that paperwork so she could fill in details. And then I came back to my office.

She took my blood pressure three times (it averages 123/83) and my pulse (71 bpm). She weighed me (my scale at home is on target) and then took my height measurement. To my horror – I measured 5’4″.

“FIVE FOUR?” I protested. “NO WAY!”

“Yes, ma’am.”

“I’m five five,” I said adamantly.

“I measured five four,” she laughed.

I’m ticked. 5’5″ is average height. 5’4″? SHORT!!!!

Anyway, I’ll be going back next Wednesday for the medical screening – I have to fast for 10 hours before the appointment as they will be taking various bodily samples to test every possible thing known to man. So between now and then I’ll be eating a LOT of salmon and whole grains, while dutifully drinking my water.

Wow, I’m taller than you (5’6″). I always thought we were the same height.

5’4″ isn’t so bad. 🙂 And I hope your appointment goes well. I, personally, have never been able to abide fish – any type of seafood. Yick!

Good luck! I feel your pain about the measurement thing. I measured an inch shorter than I have always claimed recently too. But I’m a lot older than you and they made me have a bone scan.
