TV Roundup: Big Brother 9 and AI7.

I know people will be amazed to see me write this, but: I’m not going to watch Big Brother 9 this season.

Why?

The main reason is because I think it’s idiotic for the producers to do cheap tricks to get more viewers. The biggest problem I have: not installing A/C in the house specifically so that cast members will not wear a lot of clothing.

Now, I don’t consider myself a prude, but I don’t watch the show to see the castmates scantily clad. I watch the show for the personalities, humor and strategery.

The other reason I’m not watching is because of who won last year. I was sad when Evil Dick won last year because he was so mean and horrible to his other castmates – for that alone he didn’t deserve to win, even if he did pull of some decent strategy now and then. But those of us that read the live feed transcripts didn’t like him AT ALL (despite CBS’s love affair with him and their unwillingness to show some of his more cruel behaviors in the house so that people could see what he was really like).

As for American Idol, I have found my favorites, finally. And, I’m pretty confident they’ll be in the final 24 AND the top 10.

Females:
1) Brook – the cute blond who has never seen a rated R movie and has a penchant for striped shirts.
2) Carly – the Irish lass who missed out on Hollywood due to visa issues, and then found out this year she was allergic to her dog

Males:
The three Davids: the one who is 16 and sings well but sound weird when he talks, the Daughtry-wanna be, and the other David who was featured for the first time last night as the first male contestant to sing (I think he’s hispanic?). Sure, the Australian who did “Bohemian Rhapsody” was good – but not one of my favorites, and I fear if he makes the top 24 (which he almost definitely will) that he’ll be like Constance Pheux-Rocker from a few years ago (Constantine Maroulis for folks who arent’ aware of my nickname for him).

Brook is a nice girl but she’ll be eaten up on that show. Don’t see her sticking around very much longer. Probably the same for the Irish lass. I wasn’t watching closely enough to pick a favorit, but I’ve done pretty good in the past picking Carrie Underwood the second I saw her in her first audition and picked out Kelly Clarkson very early too.

I’d have to give this year’s contestants another look before I pick a winner.
