Valentine’s Day – Who Celebrates How?

Color me confused. Isn’t Valentine’s Day supposed to be just for sweethearts to make the day a bit more special for their partner? Since when did Valentine’s Day suddenly become a family and friend affair? I don’t get that. There are whole websites out there giving people ideas on what to buy their FRIENDS. WHAT? It’s bad enough that V-Day is a Hallmark holiday run amok, but let’s not make it worse by getting GIFTS for people who aren’t technically in the “sweetheart” category.

Anyway, I lamented a couple weeks ago that I have no idea what to get Denis for Valentine’s Day. He is REALLY hard to shop for (and not just for V-Day). Fortunately, I can consult CouponChief.com for ideas on gifts as well as getting coupons for discounts (you guys know I’m all about COUPONS right now). One great idea? Barnes & Noble has a coupon right now for buy two DVDs get a third free. I would just have to figure out what DVDs Denis might want (*hint hint*). And I know Ace will appreciate this: Best Buy has TONS of coupons available – he’s a Best Buy queen.

As for gift ideas for me, I can’t provide any help to Denis either – maybe dinner and a movie is all I need. And it doesn’t have to be on February 14 – it can be the 13th or 15th so we’re not gouged on V-Day menu pricing. I’m easy like that.

I was thinking about V-Day while I was in a store yesterday. I was curious about plans that we may or may not have. Maybe we can arrange for a babysitter for 13th or 14th. The 15th is a Friday. Don’t think we want to go there. I don’t want to go to a place that has a fixed menu for the holiday either. Think about where you might want to go and let me know. I know there are a few restaurants I’ve mentioned that we might want to try.
