Ho Hum Kind of Day

I’m feeling kind of ho hum today. Maybe it’s because I know I have a vacation day this Thursday, so I’m not in the mood to do ANYTHING today. Maybe it’s because I know my husband is having a nice day off today in honor of MLK Day, while I sit here in the office as usual.

Nothing to report, really.

CootieBoy went to bed in underpants last night and as I kissed him good night I told him to come get me if he needed to go potty in the night since he didn’t have a pullup on. Sure enough, at around 3 a.m. he came running into the room. “Mama, I hafta go potty!” I got up and escorted him into the bathroom where he did his business and went back to bed with a proud smile on his face.

I got to watch my Tivo’d copy of “Persuasion” – my my my, that Rupert Penry-Jones is a handsome one, isn’t he? Consider him added to my fake boyfriend list. What’s funny is I’ve seen him in several other projects (“Match Point,” “The Four Feathers,” and the Samantha Morton version of “Jane Eyre” to name a few) but because he wasn’t the LEAD, I didn’t really take notice of him. But as Captain Wentworth? YUM. He reminds me of Paul Bettany in a lot of ways – they could easily play brothers.

In other news, because of the holiday my commute was 15 minutes long this morning. I got here 20 minutes early. I kind of knew I was leaving too early, but did it anyway since Denis was taking the kids to daycare at the same time. I opted to spend my 20 minutes in the breakroom enjoying my French Toast bagel in peace.

Although my 30 days of water don’t start until tomorrow, I brought in my 52 oz mug this morning to give it a practice round. Sadly, it is already 2 1/2 hours into the workday and I’ve only had 12 oz to drink. I fear this 30-day commitment will end in abject failure.

I discovered this weekend that our big tv does not have picture-in-picture. Therefore I have no ability to follow an exercise video while watching something else. However, I know someone who is selling a two-year-old hardly-used stationary bike for $70 and I know Denis was thinking about getting one. We can tilt in one of our sofas to allow the space for the exercise bike – I just have to check with Denis on whether he really wants to get one or not. As for exercise videos, I have a 30-day commitment set up later in the year which forces me to get up at 6:30 a.m. every morning – even weekends. I easily see myself exercising for 30-45 minutes on those mornings since I really don’t “have” to be up until 7:15 a.m. to get ready for work (and most mornings I get up at 7:30 a.m.).

Speaking of 30-day commitments, I’ve got several people doing them now. A co-worker started 30 days of no chocolate or alcohol, and a couple in our lifegroup has also decided to do it for the entire year – and have already mapped out their 30-day commitments throughout the year. The movement has begun!!

Damnit, I wish I had Thursday off. Unfortuantly I work for a TV station and we barely have any days off. Seriously – only 6 holidays in the whole year. Isn’t that crazy?

Wow – only 6 days? That would SUCK. Of course, it sounds like a fun type of job – working in a TV station. Do you have flexible hours, or are you a “9-5″er like most of us?

Last Thursday I started the No Junk Food Diet… I cut out Cakes and Cookies, Brownies and really anything pastry related and Chocolate. The only thing sweet I had this weekend was HOT Chocolate but I didn’t think that counted. *grins. We also went this weekend and bought a home gym and an Execise Bike. They are being delivered and assembled this coming Sat. I also called the Cable Co. and had them turn on Cable in the house so we can hook up the 19″ TV downstairs in the Exercise room where the previous owners have a Wall Mount and the cable line and Plug are already there… so no need for an electrician. I am on my way to a healthy body! Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
