Hit up four grocery stores today (Lowe’s, Bi-Lo, Food Lion and Harris Teeter). I messed up on one purchase – I had two coupons meant for Food Lion and I accidently used them at Harris Teeter, so I paid twice what I intended for two items. *sigh* Oh well.
Still, I bought $100 in groceries for $62, using $38 in coupons and discounts. There was only one item on the list I wasn’t able to buy because none of the stores had it. But it wasn’t a necessity, so no biggie. My percents of savings (38%) would have been bigger if I hadn’t bought 5-6 items that weren’t technically on my list. Those items weren’t on sale, and I didn’t have coupons, so my overall percentage went down.
Still, I walked in with a lot of groceries just now, and I’m content with that considering my messup. Also, Lowe’s gave me a $5 coupon off my next purchase, and it expires next Sunday – so I’m already saving $5 when I go there next weekend!!
I’m trying to cut down on our grocery bill, too. I actually made a menu for the week, and only bought what I needed, and I walked out of Kroger only spending $57. I usually go to Publix and spend over $90 with nothing to cook for dinner!
