Chess Player Bobby Fischer has died. Yes, he counts as a celebrity, since he has a movie named after him (one of my favorite movies, might I add). Sure, Fischer became a crackpot in the end (flagrant anti-Semite, denounced his US citizenship), but that was still a great movie.
Seeing Fischer’s passing made me go find Josh Waitzkin’s website – he’s the boy that “Searching for Bobby Fischer” was about.
Okay, just talking about this makes me want to watch the movie. Good thing I have it on a videotape somewhere – maybe that’s what I’ll watch on TV tonight.
RIP Bobby Fischer.
