When Children Cheer

This weekend we took a drive over to my alma mater to visit with friends and see part of the basketball game on Saturday night. My morning was interesting – I read at Money Saving Mom that Target was selling potatoes for cheap AND that a coupon was available. Sure enough – I headed over there with my coupons and got 10 pounds of potatoes for $1. ONE DOLLAR! That’s ten cents a pound, people. That’s AWESOME.

We headed out around 4:30 p.m. to go meet up with the M family at the italian restaurant in Boiling Springs. It was a fun dinner despite CootieBoy being a bit tired after a busy morning of playing with his toys. We then popped over to the M’s house for the hour or so before the game. They have moved into a new house and it’s GREAT. BM has done a GREAT job redoing just about every room – and I know this because she showed me the pictures of what it looked like before she made all the cosmetic changes. She has impeccable taste and has really made it a very lovely home. The kids had a blast playing together – N/B have two kids – K, who is in middle school, and T who is in second grade. They had NO PROBLEMS playing with a 4 1/2 year old and a 3 1/2 year old and I know CootieGirl and CootieBoy had a lot of fun.

At 8 p.m. we headed off to the basketball game. It was a smallish crowd, but decent given the fact that no students were on campus due to the Christmas holiday break. The kids sat in the front row, with us parents just behind them. I was surprised by how well-behaved CB and CG were – they alternated between watching the game and entertaining themselves with the pom poms that I bought for them. At the end of the first half, GWU was up and we all decided it was time to head out.

We stopped back by N/B’s house to change CB’s pullup really quick, and then after making tentative plans to meet up in a couple months, we headed home. I’m hoping next time they can come out this way. I told K about our neighborhood pool and I believe she has put us on her official calendar for the summer.

Thanks for the Money Saving Moms tip. I had no idea how to work the CVS system, but I followed instructions and got a package of Huggies and a tube of Colgate for $0.10!
