It’s raining today. Heavy slashing rain that is much needed and appreciated. I’ll laugh if our completely dead lawn springs to life a bit this week because of it.
A couple weeks ago the water line leading into our fridge busted a leak. So we turned off the water and have been sans ice – no biggie, really, considering I don’t use it and Denis hardly does. A few weeks ago our garage door broke and requires we open it manually from the inside in order to park in it (we have opted to just park in the driveway until it absolutely has to get fixed). And so it was with little surprise that today Denis discovered that our deep freezer in the garage is broken. Half the food inside had to be thrown out. Among other things, about 10 gallons of ice cream almost completely melted and various pizzas completely thawed out (guess what we had for lunch – no seriously. Guess. Okay, I’ll tell you – we had chicken nuggets, two french bread pizzas and four big pizzas. Oh, and two individual sized pizzas). Fortunately we have two fridges, so the freezer portions of those two things are jam-packed with the things we were able to salvage.
Today Denis and I got some quiet time when the fighting between CootieGirl and CootieBoy reached my limit. Up to their rooms they went, and for the next TWO HOURS it was blissful. They didn’t stay alone in their rooms the entire time, but did eventually start going from room to room, but they played nicely and without any arguments until CootieGirl hurled her Dora doll at CootieBoy and caught him just above the eye. It was purely accidental, but brought the peacefulness to an end. Highlight? Opening CootieBoy’s bedroom door and seeing every single toy he owns piled high on his bed. “CootieGirl did it!” he said quickly, knowing that I was about to take him to task for it.
In more mundane news, I did not do any laundry today, but I DID sew a baby blanket and began working on the new zebra blanket for my customer. Tomorrow is church followed by a play in Charlotte with the kids, and then finishing the blanket so I can mail it out on Monday.
Please tell me the “10 Gallons” of icecream was a typo.
Nope, not a typo. Although I may have exaggerated. It may have been only 8 gallons. But lots of pints, too – probably six pints, too. Denis likes to buy ice cream.
I stopped buying ice cream at some point, but we did have about 10 gallons of ice cream. At $2 gallon, who can resist? Funny thing is I rarely eat the stuff. And neither do the kids. Thus, the reason we had 10 gallons of ice cream in the freezer and not one or two.
