Book: Confessions of a SuperMom by Melanie Lynne Hauser

I know the title of this charming book my Melanie Lynne Hauser sounds like a How-To book about cleaning your house or getting your kids to soccer practice on time, but au contraire! This fictional frolic is fun and festive (NICE…).

Birdie Lee is an ordinary woman – divorced, mom to two young teens, with a slight crush on a fellow PTA member named Carl. She works as a cashier in a grocery store and just lives day to day until the Horrible Swiffer Accident which turns her into a superhero. All of a sudden she can hear what her daughter is IMing to her boyfriend on the computer. She can clean any bathroom to brand new condition. She can throw a Merciless Gaze at a hapless teen and get them to tell the truth. She can conquer the evil that lurks in her town. All the while dispensing bandaids, apple juice and crackers to children in need.

This is my pick for my book club, and next week we’ll be discussing this book and I’m really hoping that my book club ladies enjoyed it as much as I did. I read the second book first (SuperMom Saves The World) and knew what happens next in the life of Birdie Lee, but I thoroughly enjoyed reading how she got to that stage in her life.

Perfect holiday reading. If this was summertime I’d say it’s perfect reading. So guess what I’m trying to say is – it’s perfect reading! So go buy a copy RIGHT NOW!
