Cleaners and Cookies

Last night upon arriving home from work I set up the gear and the kids and I made sugar cookies. I had made the dough the night before and once it was thawed out and rolled into a nice flat layer, the kids went nuts making their cutouts. CootieGirl liked her candy cane cookie cutter while CootieBoy was partial to the gingerbread man.

We made about 3-4 dozen and they are ready to be frosted. I’m hoping to get my sister’s recipe for no-fail icing since her cookies always look really nice.

I also scheduled the housecleaner for Thursday. When I called a place that had been recommended to me, the initial price for a deep-cleaning was much higher than I wanted to spend. However, upon calling back and negotiating what parts of the house they would do, the price came down significantly and was booked. Denis will be home for the first part of their cleaning, and then I’ll take a super-early lunch and come home for the end of it. I’m very excited – the description of what they call a “deep cleaning” is amazing and I’ll be thrilled with the results if they truly do what the owner described. The key will then be locking up the cats (hmmm…maybe I should have the two long-haired cats get shorn that night to minimize cat hair even more before the party?).
