No Go On Jello Fruit Salad

Last night I made a jello fruit salad for the kids to take to school for a Thanksgiving lunch they are having. Alas, this morning when I flipped the salad out onto a plate it began to spread out. I looked at the recipe I used and it turns out it wanted a LARGE box of jello, not a regular box of jello. I looked at so many recipes last night on the Internet that I just kind of presumed they all had the same measurements when I finally printed one out. Since I used a small box of jello, there wasn’t enough gelatin in the mixture to hold the stuff together.

So no jello salad.

The kids were a little disheartened (as we came downstairs CootieGirl was VERY excited about seeing the finished product but I had already discarded the failed result), but quickly perked up when I told them other parents would be bringing GREAT foods for them to have at lunch today.

And yes, CootieBoy asked if he could fly his kite today.

    You messed up on Jello Salad. I find humor in your fault. Not that you messed up so much, but I can see the look on your face after you turned it over and it started to spread. Your eyes must have gotten so wide!

    That’s too bad. We’ll have to try and make another one tonight for the kids. I think they were looking forward to it.

    Marmie – I opted not to do a mayo recipe. If you can email me your no-fail recipe, I’ll use that one tonight.;

    It totally could have happened to anyone. I can acutally see it happening to me. Heck-fire, I didn’t even know there was a large and small box of jello. As for your mom’s Mayo version of the Jello Salad… ew…………. Mayo and Jello? If you do get that recipe from you mom, you totally have to forward it to me. I NEED to see it and I will probably make it just to say I had Mayo and jello together. šŸ˜€
