When my sister got married a couple years ago, she wore flat shoes. No one could see them, since she had the whole wedding gown thing happening, but on her feet were comft cozy flats. Meanwhile, I stood in some really uncomfortable shoes, my toes going tingly and numb in the first 20 minutes of the ceremony, to the point where I was afraid to move else I’d fall off the stage because my feet were no longer functional. But that’s a story for another day.
My sister has a bad hip. It’s not like she needs a walker or a cane or anything, but she does feel pain in her hip when she stands for long periods of time, or does a lot of unexpected walking. The pain will flare up and she’ll lament about her hip.
Our family has debated about why her hip is bad (she’s only 40 years old) and I seem to recall my mom thinks it’s from the leg brace she had to wear as a baby. Not many know this little tidbit, but back in the dark ages (read: the 1960s) if a baby came out with one leg or foot not pointing in the right direction, they’d slap some leg braces on the kid and over time would adjust the brace and thus bring the leg/foot back to a normal position. Marmie believes the leg/hip in question is the very one that had to be “turned” when Jen was a baby. So it’s quite possible that after 40 years of life, her hip is just protesting the leg brace used all those years ago.
When my sister feels that hip and joint pain, she should consider using Freeze It Gel, which is product that uses such things as Aloe and Vitamin E to help alleviate pain. Freeze It Gel can be used to treat sore muscles & muscle sprains (such as might be brought on by exercising), shoulder or neck pain (such as might be brought on by “sleeping wrong”), and arthritis, hip & elbow joints.
Here’s a quick video about the Freeze It product:
ROTFLMAO.
I love that you found a PPP to direct right at me. Hy-larious.
To clarify, my chiropractor took an xray of that hip to see if I have arthritis. No signs of that malady, but the ball is turned in the socket of the joint inwards, just like my foot was when I was a baby. I’m not sure the leg brace helped or hurt.
The problem, as you said, originated in the hip not the foot or leg. The leg brace was to help turn the hip joint out. After being in it for three months, it was determined to have worked ~ then we moved and didn’t feel the need to follow up. All these years later Jen is experiencing problems. Now we are thinking that it didn’t do the trick… It just goes to show you that we parents have to very diligent to pay attention, for the long haul.
