Wednesday was a really windy day. So windy that when CootieBoy kept asking about flying a kite, I said, “Sure – we’ll do it this weekend!” And so it is now Saturday and it is as still as a church mouse. Seriously – no leaf is moving on ANY tree outside our house.
Of course, I could take CootieBoy to the park and attempt to fly a kite, but I’d look like an idiot and CootieBoy would get frustrated with the non-flying kite.
Fortunately, we have the play we’re going to today, and with any luck by the time we get home (we should be home by 3:30 p.m. at the latest) there will be SOME sort of breeze. The label on the kite says it flies best in 5-15 mph winds, so I’m hoping and praying that we have a nice breeze going when we arrive home.
In the meantime, the kite is on top of our kitchen pot rack because the kids kept playing with it despite our requests not to. I just hope CootieBoy doesn’t see it or else I’ll have to deal with a crying boy who doesn’t understand just how important wind is to this particular hobby.
