Last night was a cooking frenzy at our house. Denis prepped meatloaf and chicken fingers for tonight’s Life Group meal, while I made pumpkin pie and cottage potatoes. I think I was mixing the potato dish as late as 11 p.m. (maybe it was 10:30 p.m. – either way it was LATE).
In other news, CootieGirl has four mosquito bites on one leg. Three of them healed up okay, but the fourth one, on her knee, got infected. So yes, that meant squeezing. Needless to say there was a lot of screaming last night, and a lot of dramatic limping afterward. And she was VERY fussy – crying at the drop of a hat. Poor thing. This morning she woke up happy as a clam, bouncing into our room to proclaim that it was better (I had said that if the red around the bandaid went away it would be better). But when I took off the bandaid to inspect, it was still bright red under the bandaid and immediately began oozing when it was exposed. So we drained it again and cleaned it out. But this time CootieBoy was there to see what we were doing and got VERY mad at me for hurting CootieGirl. He even attempted to slap my hands away at some point as I was attempting to clean the wound. Sweet boy – trying to save his sister.
As for White Elephant, we’re up to 18 confirmed guests for the party, with at least another 5-7 who have verbally said they are coming even if they haven’t marked it down on the evite yet and another 5-7 who most likely will come. So this year promises to be an AWESOME party – a good mix of work, church and general friends. YAY!!! Even presuming that 25% the almost 30 people end up not coming at the last minute, it’s still an amazing improvement over last year’s count. SO excited.
