AAAARRRGGGG!

I just got word tonight that they are only serving beer and wine at the party. That’s just NOT RIGHT. Why not have a handful of liquors on hand for those who hate beer and dislike wine? Before I found out it was beer/wine only I asked the party planner if I could BYOB a bottle of Malibu to give to the bartender to serve to folks, and that’s when I found out there was no liquor whatsoever.

I SO need to get on next year’s planning committee. I finally get back to a company that allows people to drink at the parties (a la the investment bank in NYC) and find out they are capping it. I BYOB’d with no problems at the investment bank parties (but then again, the parties were always in our office, not a place we rented), but this place won’t let me.

And no, I don’t need alcohol to have fun – please, those days of thinking that way are long since over. But I was looking forward to having a few drinks with my workmates and getting up to sing a song.

On a side note – I DO get to practice this afternoon. Mr. BIL is going to an off-site meeting at 4 p.m. today so I’m going to pop over to the venue to do a quick run-through with the CD I made (hope the CD works – I should probably check that right now, huh?).

*grabs cd to check*

Phew. It works. I did NOT even think to check it last night after I made it. *lol* THAT would have been a disaster.

Are you in NC or SC for the party? I think that SC still has the minibottle law (right?) and that was always why they didn’t do liquor at any of our corporate parties — much more expensive than big bottles for free pour. Of course, I have no idea if NC does this – so it may not apply at all (and we haven’t lived in SC for 7 years, so it’s possible they finally got a clue). But that was my immediate thought on why it might be. 🙂
