Amy at Permission to Peruse posted about how many jobs she’s had (five) and how the general thought is that most people have seven jobs in their lifetime.
I’ve SO blown that curve.
1. Retail at JC Penney’s
2. Retail at a Christian bookstore
3. Worked 2 summers at Immigration & Naturalization Service during college
4. Word Processor for environmental group
5. Secretary at large British telecom company (that’s the job I got fired from)
6. Worked as a temp (dozens of spots, but we’ll call it one long job)
7. Worked as a manager at a movie theater (LOVED that job)
8. Secretary for government contractor
9. Word processor/Jr. LAN Administrator/Webdesigner for investment bank
10. Microsoft software trainer (this job last 2 weeks and I quit because I couldn’t handle the beyond-stupid people I taught)
11. Word processor in law firm
12. Word processor in law firm #2
13. Secretary for investment bank (same one from #9)
14. Secretary for insurance company
15. Secretary for law firm (current position)
So I’ve more than DOUBLED the number of jobs that most people have in their lifetime – and I’m not even 40 years old yet. Dang, it’s a wonder I ever get hired. It’s a good thing I’m smart, a super-fast typist (over 90 wpm) and a whiz on computers.
